MirandaNet Fellowship Profiles (MirandaNet Archive - as of March 2015)
I am a teacher and private educational consultant. I have worked as an educator for 25 years in a variety of positions including Classroom teacher (K-8), Special Education teacher, Special Education Resource Teacher (K-12), Teacher-Librarian and Assistant Principal. Throughout my career, technology, and how it can improve student learning, has always been a focus. In 1999 I began to explore "Assistive Technology" and how it could change educational outcomes for students who struggle. In 2003 (as a Teacher-Librarian) I brought support technology to the entire school and saw the power it had to not only improve student success but to build confidence and independence in learners. Since then I have focused on:
- Helping schools and teachers "Go Beyond Graphic Organizers" with Inspiration to effectively address 21st century learning and differentiated instruction
- Working with schools to implement Universal Design for Learning principles through their use of technology
- Assisting schools to effectively use their Interactive White Board effectively; moving from Replacement Blackboard to Digital Learning System
- Designing Inspiration, Kidspiration and Promethean lesson plans and resources
I look forward to learning from and sharing with the MirandaNet Community.
