MirandaNet Fellowship Profiles (MirandaNet Archive - as of March 2015)
I have been in academics for last six years. It all started, which working for IT company, where my last job profile was of Project Manager, looking after implementation of ERP software. Interacting with project sponsor's and steering committee members was quite an easy task as they were only interested in implementation progress, deviations and scheduling. The tough question came in when I need to train them as part of user training. That when the whole new world of teaching opened up in front of me.
Teaching a college students are easier then students taking professional course, but teaching students who already are in top position having 15-20 years of rich experience, their notion already build up on certain area, its very difficult. That's when one can actually take help of interactive technological interface to connect with people to train them without being taking them out of their locations but of course they need to abide by the schedule so being provided. During my project manager's time best option being video conferencing, but expensive and CBT's. These were two which was being taken as an optimum combination.
Teaching them opened new dimension and possibility. They were only had experience but lacked insight into new opportunity and research. That was the insight which got me into academics.
I strongly believe that technology like Web 2.0 would take learning to where it has not reached till date in India. I could see that lack of good teacher would not be a deterrent any more for students in remote areas/ locations, which was a issue previously. For this being new tool/s just not for educated Indian but educated whole world, especially 3rd world countries education is distance dream primary being survival.
I hope this forum would help me in my endeavour and I too could contribute in own little way for cause of this forum.
