Personal Statement

I have now semi-retired but teach totally online courses for The Consultants-E and work for The CAMELOT Project for 2 days a week.

Previously I have worked across a wide range of schools as a Primary Consultant for ICT. I have run many training courses in all aspects of ICT, from basic skills through to using ICT to teach across the curriculum in all phases, sessions such as podcasting, digital video, interactive whiteboard training and web editing. A big concentration of my most recent work with Oxfordshire was to train county teachers and teams to use the learning platform. These sessions have been a mixture of centrally based training and in school training and have been targeted at many different levels of school personnel including SMT, teachers, administrators, TAs and governors.

For many years I was responsible for the upkeep of the ICT team website, now I keep The CAMELOT webite I sometimes enjoy blogging  http://carol-carolrb.blogspot.com/and Twitter  #carolrainbow

ICT Interests

A current interest is in the investigation of the use of Second Life, a 3D virtual world, as an educational resource. A colleague and I have been running e-safety courses in Second Life since January 2009. It took a while to learn how to prepare resources for use in-world, to learn how to help delegates with their orientation so that they can access the training and to develop techniques that can be employed to teach in-world that really works.

I have presented at conferences recently about teaching in a virtual world, and e-safety and am currently facilitating some training in-world.

The CAMELOT project is about investigating the use of machinima in language teaching and learning so lots of my time is spent in making machinima at the moment.
