Personal Statement

Personal Statement

I am a teacher of science with a role in the training and development of teachers and staff in the use of ICT.

I have been researching ICT CPD for some time and have been developing online learning objects that demonstrate the usage of the core ICT that the members of our faculty need to be fluent in to address their everyday responsibilities. The objects that I have developed have been published to our VLE and the faculty members can access these at will.

The next phase of my work will be to link the use of the available softwares/hardwares to pedigogical use and reflection and to then find more extension/opprtunity for colleagues to study i.e. EPICT or Masters courses (Mirandanet's link with Bath Spa Uni?!).

My own particular interests lie in the use and development of game based learning. I have been incorporating various web based games into lessons and schemes and gathering student opinion on the experiences. I am currently learning Unity and hope to produce a 3D environment for my Y12 students to practice their core practicals.
I would like to be attending the games based learning events held in London but Malaysia is terribly inconvenient to get from and to! Perhaps the organisers will hold some webinars and produce some youtube movies for us international types next year!
