MirandaNet Fellowship Profiles (MirandaNet Archive - as of March 2015)
In September 2010 I started at Leeds Met as a Senior Lecturer in Education specialising in ICT. I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this role and believe that positivity about the use of technology to support learning has an impact on our trainees. It is delightful to engage with the eager, thoughtful and enthusiastic teachers of the future.
I am currently enrolled at Durham University and about to begin the thesis section of a taught, part-time Ed.D. With every taught module I see threads of thinking overlapping, often complementing each other, but not always! Prior to this I undertook an MA Ed. in ‘Online learners and learning’, which cemented my view that appropriate online opportunities can extend and engage learners immensely.
I often wonder what the future holds for education and for our pupils and their teachers. There seems to be so much going on that is fabulous, but still so much still to do, so much learning potential still untapped.
In a previous life I worked for nearly a decade as a LA ICT Advisory Teacher, in Early Years and Primary settings. Barnaby Bear became my constant companion, with our trips to the hospital for his starring role in a series of videos the culmination of our travels.
