MirandaNet Fellowship Profiles (MirandaNet Archive - as of March 2015)
I taught English for 12 years and between-times worked as the Senior Editor and Writer for an open learning company producing bespoke materials for blue chip companies. Whilst studying for a DPhil in Education at Oxford University, I taught trainee teachers part-time before being co-opted onto an Intel funded research project looking at how computer-gaming technology could be harnessed to engage students and enhance their learning. This resulted in the development of Kar2ouche. I subsequently ran Intel’s education programmes in the Northern European Region which included adapting and implementing the UK version of the American Teach to the Future programme. The Intel-funded Oxford research project eventually became Immersive Education which I joined full-time as Director of Education in 2001. Soon after this I worked with the Institute of Education on the development of MissionMaker. I became MD of Immersive in 2008, but still enjoy the teaching, teacher and software development, and writing for education that I do more than the management and definitely much more than sales!
