Personal Statement

Personal Statement

This is my seventh year as Headteacher at Grays School, an Infant and Nursery, in Newhaven East Sussex. The school has won 'BEST WHOLE SCHOOL' for the South East of England in Becta's 2010 ICT Excellence Awards, and the National e-Learning Foundation awarded us 'Home Access Primary School of the Year' in their annual awards 2010. We have also won a Learning Platform Award for Excellence in 2009 and an ICT Excellence Award for Best National Leadership and Management of ICT in 2008. We have the ICT Mark for the second time. I am passionate about the use of all types of technologies to extend learning for young children and their families and have recently been an advocate for parental engagement through technology and also in the use of technologies to support and develop the learning of children with SEN in mainstream schools. I am part of the 'Leading Leader Network' currently managed by IET Associates. For the past year I have also been leading a second school, Southdown Junior School, as Executive Headteacher to lead it out of special measures.
