Personal Statement
I have had a keen interest in the power of ICT to support teaching and learning in schools since I trained as a mathematics teacher. I have also been very lucky as my school has given me the opportunity to lead colleagues in developing practice in the use of ICT across the school. My particular interests include:
- models of ICT professional learning,
- using interactive whiteboards in an interactive way,
- supporting staff to create engaging virtual learning environment courses
- learners use of and creation of media
- open source software
Currently, my team and I are investigating ways that we can develop our use of mobile technology in the classroom. Like many other schools we are struggling with the many issues associated with this but I am a firm believer that anything we can do to mirror the learning experiences of pupils outside of school inside our classrooms is a hugely positive thing, and I think mobile phones and other mobile technology are an important part of this.
