MirandaNet Fellowship Profiles (MirandaNet Archive - as of March 2015)
I have been part of the Beaconhouse School Systme for the past 7 years. Since then i have been working with computers and ICT. I have always found it challenging to integrate ICT meaningfully into curriculum. I have been seraching for ways to make lesson more intersting and engaging for learners using new technology tools in classrooms. I have tried to create an interactive classroom using ICT.
I have had the experience to attend an international conference in Egypt some four years ago and got a chance to share my work with students and colleagues from all over the globe. We had done a project on global youth service day organized by iEARN Pakistan. It was a tree plantation project, integrated subjects like English, Science and Social Studies. Students made flyers in publisher to create awareness regarding environment and tree plantation benefits, made calenders, took pictures and scanned them to make calenders, practically did plantation in and around school, and all this work was shared at the iEARN forum.
My students won the YES Youth Exchange Scholarship under the iEARN Pakistan, and went to study abroad for an year in a US school.
My students have participated in a number of online projects, like folk tales, calligraphy, my name around the world etc. They have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
I have been involved in conducting training workshops at school related to ICT integration. I am currently part of a course which is about technology integration.
i have had the experience and have tried and enjoyed using a number of new technology tools in my school. My students have been part of the blogging projects, podcasting projects, making newsletter etc.
I have tried to use ICT for assessment and evaluation purposes.
All in all a good learning and challenging experience. Would like to share experience and learn from other point of views as technology cannnot be learnt alone. its all about collaborative learning and sharing using technology.
