Personal Statement

My name is Haydn Robson. After three years studying education at the University of Bedfordshire I've not only learnt about how the current educational system is constructed, but also how much more could be done within it. At the start of my course I remember watching a video, "RSA Animate: changing education paradigms". This was a talk by Sir Ken Robinson talking about what was wrong with the current educational system, with additional sketches to help visualise his thoughts. I can't help but replay that video sometimes and wonder how, after three years at university, the system had still not changed despite his well-spread message of change. I realised that change would not come unless there were more individuals campaigning for change and discussing just how far we could go. Who knows, in the next three years, with the right people talking loudly enough, I could see a class with every child not only learning at the best of their ability, but learning something that mattered to them, something that would carry them through the rest of their life, give them a passion, give them a challenge, give them the drive and the hope I wish I could see in everyone here living today.
