Personal Statement

For quite a few years I was Teacher-in-Charge of a language and curriculum support team of over 90 members of staff working in over 46 primary, secondary and special schools.

We supported bilingual children's English Language acquisition and access to the curriculum both through direct support in class, partnership teaching with our colleagues, giving INSET, jointly developing differentiated resources with schools, and working with parents. The age range supported covered nursery, infants, juniors and secondary through to Year 11. I was responsible for the team's professional development, for meeting their training needs and for developing initiatives with schools to support the learning of bilingual children. I have been involved in teaching for nearly 30 years and have taught overseas in addition to the UK.

Currently I am working as an education consultant to several organisations.

ICT Interests

I have been using computers since 1984. I have worked in a support rôle in ICT classes and across the curriculum and was involved in delivering ICT training for the curriculum support team and mainstream teachers. I have also been involved in the development of bilingual resource materials on computers and developing, reviewing and recommending software for advancing the literacy, numeracy and English language skills of bilingual children. 

Recent Projects

Recently my work at a local further education college has included delivering ICT training for classroom assistants and trainee teachers on courses leading to UK Qualified Teacher Status. I am also involved in preparing training materials and courses for several organisations.
