Personal Statement

Personal Statement

I work in Higher Education, primarily Health and Social Care with Nurses, Doctors and Allied Health Professionals. I am a registered nurse with a Master of Education in eLearning, and have applied to continue my PhD studies in eResearch and Technology Enabled Learning. I am passionate about ICT and the impact on higher education. I would like to be a member of MirandaNet to share my current knowledge, and develop professionally to improve my understanding in eResearch methodologies and practice, in an emerging field in which advanced technologies are applied to existing research methods and approaches. I would be interested in sharing and examining some of the trends in this  field, leading to the use of accessible technologies for carrying out research into technology enhanced learning. A professional background in nursing guides me towards emphasising an understanding of the human aspects of technology in learning, reflecting the context of Health and Social Care educational values that underpin the use of technology, rather than an emphasis on technological determinism. I am realtively new to the field of ICT and education, so intend to enhance the ability to conduct my own and support others in eResearch and Education. With regard to my role as educationalist, this will increase access to knowledge and information that will enable other researchers to perform their research more creatively, efficiently and collaboratively across long distances and disseminate their research outcomes.
