MirandaNet Fellowship Profiles (MirandaNet Archive - as of March 2015)
I have been and ICT teacher for 8 years and have spent the last 3 years as a head of department. I joined my school as an NQT and have not felt the need to change schools. I would like to see my school utilise mobile technologies in a more effective manner in a cross-curricular way. Currently I am working towards my Masters in Teaching and Learning at UWE (Bristol) and have to complete my dissertation in order to gain my MTL. I have taken part in the Middle Leaders program in 2012 with the National College. Although I do not have any formal ICT qualifications I will be teaching the GCSE Computing to a small group of Year 11 students from September 2013. i am looking forward to the challenge of learning myself before passing that on to my students. I am also running an after school club where we learn how to program using Small Basic. The use of Scratch as a programming tool has been part of the KS3 curriculum for 3 years and I have found that 75% of the students engage with it. There does not appear to be a huge gender divide in terms of ability in my school but there does appear to be less enthusiasm for being analytical with the boys than the girls.
