Personal Statement

Personal Statement

As the Inclusion Manager at Westfields Junior School, where technology is firmly embedded throughout all aspects of school life for children, parents, carers and staff, I see new evidence every day of the positive impact of technology on children’s learning, especially in the area of inclusion.

I am a passionate believer that all children deserve the best possible education, irrespective of barriers that they may encounter. A key area of interest for me, therefore, is the innovative use of technology in identifying and overcoming barriers to learning, particularly in vulnerable groups, such as pupils eligible for the Pupil Premium and children with special educational needs.

I am a firm advocate of evidence-based interventions and strategies and have used the Sutton Trust Toolkit successfully to identify the most effective interventions to close gaps in pupils’ learning.

I enjoy facilitating the Narrowing the Gap interest group for Whole Education and am committed to all young people having access to a ‘whole education’ where they can develop the real and relevant skills and knowledge that will empower them to be healthy, happy, confident and productive in an ever-changing world.
