Personal Statement

Personal Statement

I have a long involvement with using learning technology for training, learning and teaching, having been both a teacher and senior manager in Further and Higher Education over more than 20 years. I work with an enthusiastic and creative team who continually seek to adjust our e-learning offer to meet the needs of a diverse range of students and staff. We are passionate about blended learning models that help students become expert learners, work collaboratively and enjoy learning.

I helped my college become a very early adopter of Moodle, make extensive use of e-books and build a tradition of mobile learning. I am old enough to remember using an early Mackintosh for the first time and noticing how the menu-driven system fundamentally altered my patterns of thinking. I consider myself privileged to have both had an old-fashioned academic education and to have grown-up alongside digital systems and behaviours.
