Personal Statement

Personal Statement

I am a professional engineer with 20 years experience developing electronics systems and embedded software for safety-related products in aerospace, industrial engineering, automotive and rail transportation.

For 10 years I have worked part-time as a tutor of mathematics, encouraging children who are under-performing at school to look at the world with mathematical and scientific eyes.

In March 2014, I left full time employment in engineering to start a non-profit to provide children with continuous developmental activities in creative mathematics and computing, in school and out of school.

To target children in school, I am working with the teachers and teacher training colleges to provide INSET, CPD and teaching materials in the creative engineering method. To target children out of school, I am working with outreach agencies for carers, in care, chronic illnesses, young offenders and children under-performing at school, to provide a similar level of enriched development.

It's the old quote about everyone's happiness being identical but each person's unhappiness is unique.
