Personal Statement

Personal Statement

I have been involved in Computing and ICT for 22 years in roles ranging from hardware upgrading to post graduate project supervision.

I first encountered MirandaNet as an SSAT Lead Practitioner 10 years ago and found the contributions and support to be extremely helpful.  In particular there were a number of projects supported by Mirandanet which I found interesting particularly the links and projects undertaken with China.

My involvement with SSAT stemmed from the desire to create industry based resources for classroom use. To demonstrate to pupils how companies use technology, support the theory delivered in the classroom setting, and provide teachers with access to resources which would otherwise be difficult for them to acquire.

This project has extended in recent years to provide support for meeting places for educators.

I support schools and educational establishments with advice, ideas and general support with all aspects of the curriculum. I am particularly involved in supporting student teachers at the moment and signposting them to areas which support them in the early stages of their career. This involves a significant amount of networking, attending meetings and organising events here at the University to support students networking with educational specialists.
