Personal Statement

Personal Statement

I recently joined Oxfordshire County Council in their Education Department as the Content Development Officer. My brief is to assess and promote the potential uses and applications of ICT in learning and to take the lead in exploring, securing and promoting share educational content, with a particular emphasis on exploiting broadband network facilities. I am engaged in promoting local research into the effective use of ICT in learning; at present I am coordinating five pilot broadband project in different secondary schools around the county.

My background is in science teaching; I spent 15 years in schools in London and Singapore, including several years as a head of science at a London comprehensive. More recently I worked for Granada on the Results project and was the senior producer for Espresso's secondary service. I am very interested in joining Mirandanet, making contact with colleagues in different sectors and finding out more about current research projects.

Note from the Editor: Freda is now at the Open University
