Personal Statement

I trained at Portsmouth as an infant teacher and originally taught in Derby. After moving to Notttingham I had a break from teaching to raise my two sons. We lived in America for 2 years and I returned to teaching as a home tutor for Nottingham City Council. I spent several years supply teaching in Nottingham and Notts before becoming an EMAG teacher (Ethnic Minority Achievement Grant) with KS 2 in a multi ethnic inner city school in Nottingham. I am also the ICT coordinator and one day a week I work with all the children in the school - from Nurery to Year 6.

ICT Interests

I have always been interested in computers and my old Sinclair used to accompany me on home tuition visits. I have been an ICT coordinator for the last five years and I work with all the children in the school - from Nursery to Year 6 - on the computers. We have a suite of 14 computers and each class has at least one additional computer all networked. Our year 2 class was fitted with an Interactive whiteboard in September. I am also a facilitator for Becta on the ICT Coordininators site and was a reporter fot the site at the BETT show. I have undertaken software and website reviews for TEEM, the last one being a review of Gridclub.com.

Recent Projects

I would like to investigate the effect of whiteboards on the learning of children who are new to English. I have recently enrolled the school on Think.com and I am in the process of enabling the year 5 and 6 children to construct their own web sites.
