Personal Statement

I worked as a production engineer then a factory manager for many years and took up teaching in 1990. I am particularly interested in how students learn and autonomous learning.

ICT Interests

I have a general interest in how ICT can improve teaching and learning, and how the appropriate use of ICT can breathe new life into some of the science curriculum that has become a little turgid. I teach students some of the basics to do with ICT and they teach me how to be creative on a computer. ICT has become an enabling tool for those of us that believe that schools and colleges are a community of learners.

Recent Projects

I have sucessfully completed a course that will allow me to become an e-facilitator fot the GTCE. Also I have recently completed a Gatsby/St. John's College Fellowship that has allowed me to prepare some work for students on autonomous learning. Elements of this have an ICT focus.
