Personal Statement

Graduated in Electronic Communication Engineering from Hull University 4 years working for APD-Mertech Ltd. as a software engineer writing applications for communication systems.

PGCE at Leeds University in Design & Technology and Outdoor Education.

9 years at Boston Spa School, UK teaching D&T and IT up to A-Level.

Worked in Seychelles for 5 years teaching Computing and IT at the International School, then 5 years in Kuwait as Head of ICT in a UK-curriculum school.

Now living in New Zealand where I'm Head of Digital Technologies at a large boys school.

ICT Interests

Past commercial experience in ICT includes writing software in C and C++ for both imbedded and PC applications. I've made extensive use of PCs and Macs to produce documentation for software projects, etc.

Teaching experience using ICT has included the use of smartboards, CAD/CAM, on-line course delivery (using Moodle), co-operative content development (using intranet-based message boards)

Current interests include web-design (my personal site is at www.copleys.info and I have an ICT revision site at www.igcseict.info); coding in Objective-C (for Mac OS-X) and Python; and heading over the The Redwoods at Rotorua to ride the MTB trails.
