MirandaNet Fellowship Profiles (MirandaNet Archive - as of March 2015)
I am a Teacher Educator. I have always been a strong advocate of applying ICT in classroom learning and incorporating technology in the classroom. I always encourage my staff to use technology. I frequently resort to ICT in teacher Education. My students are given web-based assignments involving preparation of Intranet materials, locating suitable websites related to the content they have to learn. They are also given opportunities to make use of Educational software available.
My ICT interests is confined to exploring ways and means of exploiting the educational potential of ICT for classroom learning . Students today are richly blessed with a vast amount of information osurces at their fingertips and as teachers we have to give them opportunities to tap these information sources. Students have the tremendous capacity to learn independently but teachers shoulkd realize and acknowledge that.
As a Teacher Educator I am preparing my Teacher Trainees in the use of ICT for learning . When they become proficient and aware of the various learning potential of their subjects they will use ICT for teaching too.
I do not have any projects running on any of the e-journals. But, I am involved in a ICT-related project related to Teacher Education . It is a research project and I am attempting to develop a Training programme at the Teacher Education level so as to prepare Prospective Teachers for the classrooms of tomorrow.
