Personal Statement
After graduating in Computer Science from the University of Wrocław (1970), I have obtained a teaching assistant position at the Mathematical Institute. PhD thesis 'AMAL - A System for Programming Algebraic Manipulators' (co-author Helena Krupicka; 1979). Now I am an Assistant Professor in the Institute of CS University of Wrocław.
ICT Interests
Some sixteen years ago, I started my activity in the field of computer science education (on the high school level). I published many articles on this topic (in Polish). I am also a co-author of some books which quickly gained a great popularity among teachers and students. The first one is Programming and Logo (1987). The second one is the three volume work entitled Elements of Informatics (1991-1996) which was written by a team working on a large project on education in high schools. In 1998, I was also awarded Medal of National Education Committee. Last year (1999) I have got the Rector's Award for my didactical achievements. Beside the courses at the University, I conducted classes with students at the secondary and high schools. I also delivered a lot of courses to teachers of post-diploma studies at our Institute. Now I conduct courses about communication technology for teachers of Informatics, who should play a role of co-ordinators of Information and Communication Technology at their schools.
Recent Projects
I'm working in the team (with G.Hardt-Olejniczak, E.Kolczyk, H.Krupicka, M.M. Syslo), which is involved in the project "Meeting and learning with computers". The main goal of this interdisciplinary project is: to prepare integrated curricula for informatics and using Information and communication Technology, didactic materials for students and teachers education and continuos training for teachers. I am also a co-author of four books published last year in the frame of this project. Information about project 'Meetings and Learning with Computer' (in Polish) you can find at www.wsip.com.pl/serwisy/ti
