Personal Statement

Ewa KolczykAt the university I give lectures about methods of teaching ICT in school for teachers, who have taken the post-diploma study in computer science and for computer science students, who have been preparing to work in schools. I have also some experience in teaching IT in secondary schools.

ICT Interests

I am interested in learning and teaching ICT, programming, computer science at different levels of education system. I have started research of introducing ICT in Polish school system.

Recent Projects

With Ewa Gurbiel, Grazyna Hardt-Olejniczak, Helena Krupicka and Maciej Syslo, I am co-author of the interdisciplinary project 'Meetings and Learning with Computer'. The project is a realisation of the education standards and its main goal is to integrate ICT with all school subjects, with learning activities of students and teaching activities of teachers. It is assumed that the introductory classes on using computers and ICT, called 'meetings with computer', are oriented towards preparing students for learning with computer. The project is addressed to primary, middle and high schools and for each type of school, the following items will be elaborated and published: 1. Curricula for: Introductory ICT, ICT across curriculum, and for other subjects in the area of using ICT. 2. Education packages for students, e.g. textbooks, software and electronic data. 3. Teacher’s manuals. 4. In-service training courses for teachers who decide to work in schools using proposed materials. 5. Internet service. We have published all kinds of curricula and we have completed materials for students and teachers of primary and middle schools connected with IT classes. We are working on materials for 'learning with computer' in other school subjects. Information about project 'Meetings and Learning with Computer' (in Polish) you can find at www.wsip.com.pl/serwisy/ti
