Personal Statement

Personal Statement

I have worked with ICT in Education since 1974 as a teacher and later as a commercial provider. My current professional focus is around ICT in BSF and particularly the design and implementation of strategic support and CPD programmes.

I am interested in finding and developing models of CPD which help educational users of technology build skills and confidence at the times when they most need them.  I want to see the development of discernment amongst the students and staff which will help them decide when, or if, to use different technologies to achieve their goals.  I also want to see an increasing focus on encouraging senior leadership teams in schools actively to include the strategic leadership of technology within their remit rather than allowing it to be delegated.

I am keen on tough debate about the value that ICT can bring to the learning process in terms of how it will enable learners to develop their knowledge, skills, experience and values so that they will engage effectively with local, national and international communities, becoming the influencers rather then the influenced.
